Unless otherwise noted, your gavies diapers will have the following features...

(Click on the thumbnail image for a larger image)

linercloseup.jpg (62104 bytes) Malden Mills Microfleece liner inside the diaper, that still allows you to add or remove absorbency under the fleece. This puts an ultra soft layer next to baby’s skin and will keep your baby soft and dry (helping prevent diaper rash) no matter how wet the diaper gets. Unlike most fleece diapers, gavies will still allow you to choose your absorbency without needing another fleece liner.  The lining is sewn on all four sides, which ensures a nice soft fleece binding for baby's legs, and discourages shifting or bunching.  No wet fabric will touch your baby!  Fleece is very easy to clean so any soiling should wash off easily.  Fleece will also line dry as soft as it machine dries so you won't have to worry about putting stiff diapers on baby if they are dried in the sun.  With microfleece by Malden Mills, you get all this in a NON-bulky fabric that won't pill like other fleece dipes.

Soakers.jpg (63657 bytes) An extremely absorbent soaker that dries as fast as a prefold! Just 30-40 minutes of medium heat in the dryer and they are done!  The soaker is made to be thick enough for night time, but it is sewn into many separate layers so when the diaper is turned inside out for drying, they are all free to dry quickly. The soakers are also made thin at the mid legs to not be too bulky for baby. We use hemp and natural cotton for ultra absorbency, with a soft feel.

Aplix800.jpg (7484 bytes) Aplix for form and function  The Aplix 800 tabs  are covered in coordinating fabric to complete your gavies designer set.  The fabric wraps around the aplix edge to keep scratches off your baby.  The placement is also made with the specific intent of keeping the aplix away from baby's skin.  The aplix is zig-zag stitched on and off the edge to give a smooth feel. The loops are also placed lower on the diaper for plenty of fabric between the aplix and baby's tummy.  The Newborn diaper has a side gripping design to move the tabs away from the baby's healing belly button.  This high quality Aplix is so durable, the diaper will probably wear out before it does.

foldback tabss
giraffetabs.jpg (48550 bytes) Foldback washing tabs that hide away from baby's skin  Inside the diaper, under the fleece lining, are foldback Aplix pads.  This prevents the Aplix from gripping items in the wash and creating a mess while still giving baby a smooth, irritation free diaper.  The fleece has the added feature of helping to hold the tabs down in the wash to prevent the occasional loose tab that other foldback pads seem to allow.

elastic.jpg (37210 bytes) Soft elastic A special baby elastic is used to prevent leaks while being easy on baby's soft skin.  The design is made so that the edges come up with a gusset-like performance while still not putting the holes in the fabric that actual gussets would require.

newinside.jpg (56454 bytes) Venting! The fleece lining is only sewn on the back, mid-legs, and front. The corners are open for easy access to adjust the soaker pad, allow faster drying, or to even turn the diaper inside out. No more bunched up soakers that you can’t pull straight.  Lastly, if for whatever reason you want more absorbency, you can add whatever you’d like under the fleece layer.

NewCover.jpg (42606 bytes) An adorable waterproof cover that can still breathe! The cover is made of a breathable nylon  material that is totally waterproof. It is lined in a soft fleece on which all the sewing is done so there is no wicking of moisture to the outside. The front edge has a small bit of elastic sewn down to help the cover fold over the top of the diaper. It also has the same Aplix features as the diaper except for the foldback tabs that would make the cover no longer waterproof. You can just attach the tabs onto the front of the cover before washing and it will hold tight.

Same diapers as above photo; inside view.
Adjustability for an economical choice!  Don't want to order a small, medium, AND large as baby grows?  The unique design of gavies allows you to make a large accommodate any size with some minor modifications.  Just fold the soakers inside down to whatever length you'd like, and adjust the shell around them.  Please request the extra aplix to make the wings adjust to fit a smaller baby if you would like your gavies to be "one-size".  It is bulkier than a medium or small would be, but it does the job.  Also, since the WHOLE diaper isn't being folded to fit, it is less bulky than many other one-size diapers.  The cover is not a one-size fit.

gavies diapers
gavies are NOT an AIO (All-In-One) diaper. Why is this a plus? Because you can choose to take the cover off for brief periods of time if you want. You can also re-use the cover and just change the diaper when it is wet. You have a lot more flexibility with these two pieces.  Another plus of this not being an AIO diaper is that you can rinse your diapers in vinegar without destroying the cover's waterproof function over time. The diaper gets cleaner and the cover lives longer.
